$100 Million Question: Is Heroes of Telara the World of Warcraft killer? @ VG Tribune - http://vgtribune.com/100-million-questi ... ft-killer/

The last preview I linked is my favorite. It actually has some new information in it. There's just one issue I have with it. The title. "WoW Killer" is an awful term that should never be used in my opinion. 1) It puts way too much unnecessary pressure on game developers. 2) A game doesn't need to be a "WoW Killer" to be successful. 3) The term is unrealistic. A subscription based MMO having 11.5 million players was never supposed to happen. It's something that will probably never happen again. But, that does not mean that any MMO in the future should be deemed a failure if it doesn't reach the same milestones that WoW has.

The Previews Just Keep Coming In
Poster: MattGraham June 5th, 2009, 10:08 am

Two new previews for Heroes of Telara have been written up and published.

E3: Could Heroes of Telara's new social gaming replace Warcraft? @ Sci Fi Wire - http://scifiwire.com/2009/06/e3-could-h ... telara.php

E3 09: Heroes of Telara shows some early promise serverside @ Destructoid - http://www.destructoid.com/e3-09-heroes ... 5004.phtml

It's basically the usual. They're just like all the other previews for the most part. But, hey, if you're like me, you're reading every preview that comes out even though you know that it's basically like reading the same thing over and over and over again.

Heroes of Telara: Interview with Chris Mancil @ MMORPG.com - http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?game ... 112&bhcp=1

It's nice to see so many previews for Heroes of Telara! Every one I read just gets me more excited for the game! This preview is pretty much like all the rest, but it seems to go a little bit more in-depth.

Heroes of Telara Impressions - Server-side Updates in Real-Time @ Gamespot - http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6211479/he ... -real-time

These previews all say basically the same thing. Nothing really new. But, I still find it interesting to read each one. Sooner or later there'll be a preview with some new info in it.

By the way, according to the Heroes of Telara twitter feed (http://twitter.com/HeroesofTelara), if they get 100 followers by midday, they'll release some new artwork!

I'm sure everyone on these forums has seen this trailer already, but I thought it'd be appropriate to show it again. I've probably watched it 5 times now. Here it is!

Two More Previews

Heroes of Telara Preview @ Gaming Union - http://www.gamingunion.net/news/heroes- ... --137.html

E3: Heroes of Telara @ RPGFan - http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2009/257.html

The second preview told us some new things. I'm pretty certain that this is the first time we've gotten confirmation as far as races and classes go. The article states the Heroes of Telara will have 4 classes and 3 races to begin with. My guess is that the races are Humans, Dwarves, and Elves, based on what I saw in the E3 trailer. I think it's fair to say that the classes will be a tank, a healer, melee damage, and ranged damage. Sounds good to me. For example, WoW class balance sucked at launch because they had to deal with 9 classes. Only having 4 classes makes it simple for Trion at first and then, if they want to, they can ease in some new, possibly hybrid type, classes. I'm definitely liking what I'm reading.

The First Look at Heroes of Telara
Poster: MattGraham June 3rd, 2009, 10:39 am

So, who got the first look at Heroes of Telara? A website called MMORPGMMORPG.com. No joke. Honestly, I've never heard of the site until now, but I'm browsing around a bit, and it seems like a great site! The site talks a lot about Free-to-Play MMOs. I'm not into those as much anymore, but if you are, definitely check out the site. But, anyways, back to the preview.

The article tells of some quite promising things. For one, I think this is the first time we've actually gotten details of Trion's "amazing server-based technology". Before, I was just told it was amazing and lived with it. But, now I actually understand. Basically, since the game will be server-based, rather than client based, it allows players to totally forget about patches. The game will be able to be patched right on the spot without thousands of people needing to download some 200GB file before they can play again. The same technology will be able to quench lag issues in highly populated areas.

Another feature that was talked about in the preview is something I found extremely exciting. Basically, it's saying "no more alts". What?! That's awesome! No more worrying about 10 different characters! In WoW at least, farming and doing the same quests on multiple characters kinda sucks. Thank you Trion, thank you! Okay, so basically, you have one character than can change its class by just going into the city and talking to someone. However, and I'm glad that this is also part of the class-switching, each class that you character can be will level individually. Honestly, I think that I would have a totally different opinion on this feature if that wasn't the case.

They also have a sub-class system. It's basically exactly what it sounds like. You're able to further customize your class by using the system that works through looting NPCs. More customization is usually never a bad thing!

Heroes of Telara [Un]Forums Launched!
Poster: MattGraham June 1st, 2009, 11:33 am

To coincide with the release of the official Heroes of Telara website, the Heroes of Telara [Un]Forums have officially been launched. These forums were created on the assumption that the official website might launch without a message board system. So, this was created to supply a message board to the game's currently infant following. I hope you enjoy these forums! Have fun!
